Drainage
Which Organs and Systems Make Up "Drainage”
BOWELS / STOOL - Hidden Jewels in Your Stool (Bowels)
Smell: ideally has little to no odor. Sulfur smelling stool is possibly indicative of malabsorption of protein. Methane smell often points to dysbiosis (an “imbalance” in the gut microbial community that is associated with disease)¹.
Transit time: Shorter is more healthy and longer is more problematic. Longer often looks hard and can point to more unhealthy gut bugs, shorter is often more loose and points to less dysbiosis. The longer transit times can be a correlation to food sensitivities. Can use “Beet Challenge” to track transit time: eat a large serving of beets, note the time. Track the hours until the red color is noted in the stool.
How much/amount: not only tracking how often, but also how much is expelled. General rule – wrist to the elbow.
Hyper wiper or not: Child should only have to wipe once after going to the bathroom. If they need to wipe a lot this can also be indicative of the condition of their gut microbiome.
LIVER – there can be a lot of reasons that the liver is not working efficiently, including:
Infection: acute or chronic
Diet: Healthy bile comes from healthy foods
Jaundice: babies with jaundice at birth have a liver that is already congested
Methylation: Children are more susceptible to detox in the liver not working as efficiently. Improper methylation, the biochemical process that keeps body systems functioning and turns “on” or “off” the functions of major systems - including detoxification - can cause a lack of important molecule production
KIDNEYS – often when the kidneys are backed, the next drainage pathway utilized is the skin. Skin breakouts during detox can indicate a liver back up, which then diverted drainage to the kidneys. And if kidneys are blocked, they will funnel to the skin to try and push detox.
SKIN – Skin can be an amazing way to detox. Sweating is a huge factor, especially in detoxing mold and heavy metals. This is often the easiest pathway for the body to kick out toxins, especially in children! But if mitochondria is deficient, kids will overheat before they will sweat.
LYMPH - the fourth phase of water (gelatinous state) is necessary for lymphatic movement. To move water to this state, the body needs electrical current. The body pulls electric currents from natural sources such as grounding, nutrient-dense foods, and minerals. But if natural exposure isn’t available, the body will pull from the most readily available resource, and today we see that most accessible current in EMFs. Man-made EMFs do not have the same balance of frequency and harmony as naturally occurring EMFs. And when unbalanced, they can be damaging. When we see children that are sensitive to EMFs, we often find they are needing electrical current, and the body is pulling from the most accessible form. So if lymph isn’t moving well, we ask: does the body need electrical current? And are they pulling it from balanced sources? See below for tools that aid in increasing electricity in the body, and will help support lymphatic movement.
GLYMPHATIC - The importance of getting the brain to “poop” – glymphatic, the deep cervical lymph nodes, need to be moving for the brain to drain. Otherwise, it gets stuck and backs up. Brain fog can present, but often it looks like emotions flaring, ADD/ADHD, an inability to focus, and hyperactivity.
Ways to support drainage with kids:
Movement
Variety of nutrition
Proper hydration
Castor oil packs
Vagus nerve stimulation
Enemas (if needed)
Sweat (sauna, exercise, Epsom salt baths)
Dry brushing (this can also be helpful in nervous system regulation)
Supplements
Super 6
Foam rolling
Blocked hips
Anything that gets energy to the body, such as:
Sunshine
Grounding
Supplements that are high energy
Red light
PEMF
Microcurrent
The more electricity the cells have, the better the lymphatic system flows!
